What type of new housing do we want and need?
The Council currently estimates that up to 2,500 new homes could be built at York Central. The details are still being worked out, but some early plans suggested the majority of new homes could be small one or two bedroom flats for private sale. Councils in other places are setting high affordable housing thresholds to ensure new housing developments include a mix of different types of homes – which can help prevent poorer people being shipped out of city centres or to different places altogether.
